How To Take Chic Fashion Photos
Ever feel jealous of those fashion bloggers that neatly lay out their outfits and manage to make a photo of their clothes look like a piece of art? Or tried to take a picture of a new cute piece of jewelry you bought but couldn’t manage to get it at the right angle? Let us at the Fotor team help you become a fashion photo expert!
We’ve all seen those photos on Instagram of people’s outfits laid out on their beds so they can show off what they are going to wear for the day. The key to these stylish looking photos is placement! With Instagram, you’re working with a square. Make sure that square is filled up and there are no gaps without a piece of your outfit!
Keep it Neat and Clean
No one wants to see a stained shirt or wrinkles where they shouldn’tbe. Make sure to iron out your clothes and neatly fold them before trying to get that perfect shot! Side Note: the same rule goes for your bed or whatever you are using for a background!
Lighting is Key
You can re-arrange your outfit 100 times but if the lighting is wrong, your picture just won’t cut it. Make sure that you are utilizing the natural daylight and that it is not shining directly on to your clothes. Too harsh of light will wash out any details your outfit may have. Place your outfit in indirect sunlight to give your clothes a light, sunny effect.
If taking a photo of yourself wearing your outfit, You want to make sure to show off even the littlest pieces of it. I mean, you didn’t go searching for that perfect bracelet or strategically place that killer ring on a certain finger for nothing, right? Place your hands on your hips, holding your purse in front of you, or simply snap a shot of just your hands!
A View From Above
When trying to capture your cute new shoes, take a picture from above! Holding the camera at about face level, looking down your body at your feet makes your picture look more interesting than a typical shot in the mirror of your heels. Plus, you get a little bit of your outfit in it too! Just make sure that whatever you’re standing on looks great too!
